When I first enrolled for the Medical Assistant program, I had a 3-month-old baby. The day after my enrollment, I found out I was expecting again. I was ready to drop the program without even giving it a try. My husband told me that being a mom didn’t mean I had to quit my studies. I am now a graduate. My message to incoming students is: Don’t give up without trying. You never know what you are capable of doing unless you try.

After graduation, I continued to work with the physician I was paired with during my internship. This opportunity provided me with much more knowledge so that it was not just an internship anymore. She became my mentor. I am now a Senior Patient Care Coordinator in the Otolaryngology Department at Weill Cornell Medical College. I plan to continue my education within the university to advance my career. With the help and support of my family and the Allen School, I have a lot to be thankful for. Thank you.

I always had a passion for helping others. Half of my family decided to enter the medical field, which always intrigued me. I never had the confidence to join such an intricate field. One day I chose to walk into the Allen School of Health Science, and it took my life in a completely different direction. Joining the medical field showed me that I can take my passion for helping others, solving problems, and learning new things to a whole new level. I learned that I could make a difference in someone’s life, that I can even help save lives, and that to me it is the ultimate reward. This choice is something that will inspire my children. This medical assistant program has been the biggest blessing. The hands-on training along with the continuous support from staff, family, and classmates is ensuring my success. Next stop - medical school!

Before starting the Allen School Medical Assistant Program, I was scared, confused and hesitant. After a stressful afternoon, my best friend asked me to accompany her on a tour for the program she was about to start. We got to the Allen School, introduced ourselves to the admission’s advisor, and took a tour of the school. During the tour, something in me clicked. I felt my eyes light up. I imagined it all, and I could hear my grandmother’s voice in my head telling me how proud she was of me for going after something I wanted to do. I had never felt like this about anything in my life. It was hard, juggling multiple things at once, but I got through it. I am aiming to be more than a medical assistant and will dedicate my degree to my grandmother.

Entering into the Medical Assistant program at Allen School was a leap of faith for me. I had always wanted to be in healthcare but from a young age, I didn't think I could do it. Well, life has a way of nudging you in the right direction. Not only did I complete the program, I excelled at the coursework; this has boosted my confidence and my resolve to keep going. Now I get to do something I love everyday. Taking care of patients and working as a team brings me such joy. I am excited for this new season of my life and I look forward to continuing my education. Becoming a medical assistant has been one of the most fulfilling milestones in my life. My journey began with a passion for healthcare in high school as I joined the sports medicine program, I found a desire in helping others. As a new medical assistant, I quickly realized the impact I could have on patients' lives. From assisting with medical procedures to providing a comforting presence during stressful times, my role is integral to the healthcare team. I have seen firsthand how a smile, a kind word, or a helping hand can significantly improve a patient's experience and well-being. My journey to becoming a new graduate has been incredibly rewarding. From just figuring out my placement in high school to now graduating I am proud to be a part of the healthcare community, and I am eager to continue making a positive impact.

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to serve others in a hands-on and practical way. I knew that pursuing medicine would be the route I would take. As I grew older the dream stayed the same, but with a twist. I now want to serve others in countries where physicians and nurses are scarce, and people sadly lose their lives to sicknesses that are easily treatable. Prior to my junior year at Grand Canyon University I dropped out, which led me to the path of becoming a medical assistant. From day one, I felt accepted. I knew there was a team of people who would bless me with their time, love, and knowledge. Medical assisting was just the first step in my journey to medicine. My next stop is nursing.
