Allen School of Health Sciences Announces New Outreach Venture

Medical Assistant & Nursing Assistant Students Participate in Outreach Program

BROOKLYN, NY (PRWEB) May 13, 2013 The Allen School of Health Sciences has introduced a new outreach venture called Students Learning-for-a-Cause. When a new class of Medical Assistant and Nursing Assistant students begins, they collaboratively choose a cause for which to raise awareness—succeeding in both doing good for humanity and learning about a topic in the health sciences and/or real world today. Students plan a fundraising event to bring attention to their cause and educate fellow students, staff, and faculty. Methods of awareness vary with each cause and are greatly influenced by the creativity of the students and through their experiences and strengths. Among the causes, Allen School students have supported in the past include: Domestic Violence, Healthy Living, Multiple Sclerosis, Lymphoma Society, Child Abuse, Homelessness, Breast Cancer, AIDS Awareness, Autism, Depression and many more worthy causes. Allen School students have worked to raise thousands of dollars in the short time since this program started. This early success is exciting for Allen school staff, who takes pride in the achievements of their student body. “Allen School supports the students in allotting them the resources to assist them in this project while also matching the final donation given to their cause. We have always supported and encouraged various charities, but this push makes the giving process fun and educational,” said Allen School President Jason Teich.
