Your focus here will be on medical records, where you’ll learn to assign codes to classify diagnoses and procedures. You’ll also put your understanding of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology to daily use.

You will manage records and file claims, prepare insurance forms, and handle billing. You’ll use your terminology and pharmacology training, plus law, ethics, medical filing and records management.

Every time a doctor sees a patient, every symptom, diagnosis, procedure, and treatment is assigned a universal numeric code. Your job is to translate these codes to prepare the record for medical insurance claims.

Responsibilities involve accurately completing claim forms, promptly billing insurance companies, and adhering to each insurance carrier’s policies and procedures.
